VI's Adaejah T. Hodge wins 200m gold in Lima

LIMA, Peru, SA- Adaejah T. Hodge, 18, has won the Virgin Islands' first gold medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships.

Hodge ran 22.75 to win the Women's 200m Final in Lima, Peru moments ago, August 30, 2024.

The teenage speedster had already won silver in the Women's 100m.

Torrie Lewis of Australia took silver in 22.88, a Personal Best. Third was Shanoya M. Douglas of Jamaica in 23.10.

Apart from Hodge's two medals, the only other individual medal for the VI at the World Athletics U20 Championships is a bronze medal won by hurdler Kyron A. McMaster in 2016.

Hodge competed as the youngest athlete in the Women's 200m at the Paris Olympics and managed to reach the Semi-finals.
