VINO stands by statement on desperate & disgraced Myron V. Walwyn
You will recall that desperate Myron went to the Virgin Islands House of Assembly and engaged in libel and slandered the good name of the former Permanent Secretary Julian Willock.
Desperate Myron told the public, in a bold faced lie under protection from lawsuit in the House of Assembly on March 23, 2016, that Mr Willock was fired for “misconduct.” He claimed because of that Mr Willock should not serve on the Public Service Commission (PSC) as nominated by the Leader of the Opposition under the Constitution, Sec 91.
In turn, Mr Willock’s firm, Advance Marketing and Professional Services, in a statement dated March 28, 2016, set the record straight.
We stand by that statement and will never be intimidated, bullied or not defend the good name of Mr Willock, as it is clear what is the intention of desperate Myron.
Lots of support for VINO & Willock
Firstly, the Chairman of Advance Marketing and Professional Services and the staff, and as respectable members of the community, we thank the many callers from all walks of life, law firms and even elected Members- from both sides of the aisle- who shared words of encouragement, as we strive to build our young democracy.
We have taken most of the advice and will never be afraid of desperate Myron.
We strongly believe that when the likes of desperate Myron who has been abusing our House of Assembly-the People’s House-another important institution under the protection of immunity, to slander and use libelous language against citizens in another failed attempt to go after those he does not like, it is critical that the record and facts be made public.
We will advise desperate Myron to spend his time and explain to tax payers why a small wall around the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) cost $1M when children do not have access to basic supplies at schools.
He should spend his time, not in a lawyers’ office, but explaining to the public the real reason why he is scared to have our Chairman Julian Willock on the Public Service Commission. That too will come to light!
Willock's issue
The public will recall that in 2010 a newspaper article falsely accused the esteemed Julian Willock of having an employee working for one of his companies without a work permit.
Following the tabloid article, Mr Willock was sent on paid leave from his Government post of Permanent Secretary, however, the Labour Department had written to reject those claims, stating that Mr Willock had all work permits for his company.
Mr Willock, to protect his good name, took the government of the Virgin Islands to court for their illegal action in sending him on leave even after evidence had showed he had done nothing wrong.
Mr Willock won in the High Court and was vindicated! Recently the Government, knowing Mr Willock's case was solid, withdrew an appeal on the matter, despite the ranting of one Cabinet Member in particular, who objected on his usual childish and wicked reasons.
The Court also clearly stated that all Mr Willock's rights had been violated. Is this the kind of institution, which has no regard for law and order, that Mr Walwyn wishes to build? Is he serious about building institutions, when all have agreed that since he has gone to our House of Assembly many persons are ashamed of how low this important institution has become? In fact, a well-known National Democratic Party supporter has described this institution as a “circus.” We all know which politician brought it to this point.
Myron V. Walwyn has no moral standing
The public has been made aware that a company owned by Mr Walwyn, during his first term in office [2011-2015], catered for the House of Assembly even though to date no permission has been sought from the highest law making body in the land!
This is a breach of Section 67 (7) of the Constitution and it continued, as recent as this year.
It clearly shows that desperate Myron does not have the moral or legal standing to be in the House of Assembly due to these blatant violations or his own ineligibility as to what qualifies as a Virgin Islander to serve in the House of Assembly.
Desperate Myron got up in the House of Assembly a few weeks ago and told the public that he was against a sale of a local business and he will stand up and you will see “man from boy”, if the sale goes through.
However, last year he merged his former firm, Orion Law, with an international company Travers Thorop Alberga, clearly showing that he is a hypocrite.
Willock maintained good name
Mr Willock is proud that after some 15 years of being a model civil servant, serving first as Assistant Secretary, then being promoted to Director of Water and Sewerage, then to Permanent Secretary, no one has ever accused him of being corrupt or trying to use his office to enrich himself.
No one has ever accused Mr Willock of conflict of interest and giving himself work or directing work of government’s resources to his company for personal gain.
No one has ever accused Mr Willock of using his office as Director of Water and Sewerage or Permanent Secretary to waste government funds, take trips all over the world without even a report on those trips or sexual harassment of staff from both genders.
No one has ever accused Mr Willock of paying $35,045.59 to his own company from the Festival and Fairs Committee while local artistes were owed for almost a year.
Our Chairman Mr Willock is proud of his good name that has been reaffirmed time and time again by the courts, the Public Service Commission, Captain of Industries, Religious Leaders, Civil Society, Regional Governments and the good people of the Virgin Islands.
Desperate Myron lied on Willock
There were no findings of wrongdoing or misconduct against Mr Willock, as desperate Myron told the people in a deliberate attempt to slander the good name of Mr Willock. In fact Mr Willock was terminated for political reasons and it’s a well-known fact.
Mr Willock noted: “We must also look at history and what happened to evil politicians like Idi Amin, Ivan The Terrible of Russia, Muammar Gaddafi, Adolph Hitler, Napoleon and Joseph Stalin, and most recently the likes of Saddam Hussein, and Bashar Al-Assad and check their history and see how they started out…very popular and doing things for the people and look what they did to their own people when they spoke out for their rights and tried to defend freedom of the press and freedom of expression…I see a pattern emerging here.”
