Earlier, C. Jack (57) and Sylvester Mitchel (43) compiled a 105 run opening partnership, Austin McDowal hit 49 and Orlando Olivierre smashed a quick fire 31 as RTW amassed 262.

Reuben J. A. Stoby was the pick of the Wolues bowlers with 2-29 and Anil Kumar finished with 2– 45.

Jack was named Man of the Match for his runs and also picking up 5 for 45.

With the win RTW were confirmed as Division One Champions, with four wins from four games.

Vincy set back Vikings

The drama continued to unfold in the Premier Division when Vincy C.C. upset the form guide, put two earlier crushing defeats behind them and stifled the Vikings charge for the Championship with a five wicket win that threw open the relegation battle to all but Grenada.

Set a below par 205 to win by the Vikings, who were indebted to 92 from Captain, Vishal Munesar (13 fours;4 sixes), but kept in check by Earl Prescott’s 3-28, Vincy set about the chase with a hint of imminent self destruction until Man of the Match D. Maloney and McTair James steadied the ship.

The pair put on 63 for the fourth wicket before James fell for 39 and Maloney for 63 (9 fours; 4 sixes), to give the Vikings a sniff of victory. However, Cameron Williams (30 *) and Brent Defreitas (22*) batted sensibly to reach the target with 5 overs to spare.

“It is a great pleasure to get the win and I must credit the guys who all played so well. Maloney is a new player for us and he showed a lot of talent with both bat and ball,” commented Defreitas.

Do or die situation

The Vincy have to play the Cavaliers next in what could well be a do or die game relegation battle.

“We will take great heart from this win and will sit down as a team to plan for the Cavaliers. They seem to be low on confidence and we will have the edge over them, but will still have to come out and play positive cricket to beat them,” noted Defreitas.

Vikings Captain Munesar was disappointed with the team’s performance in the field and hinted they will make changes before the next game. “We didn’t bowl well and lost our way with some dropped catches, the fielding was poor and we will have to look at our line up to see what we can do to improve.”

The result means that the Vikings, the Cavaliers and the Vincy all have 3 points, with one game left to play and all three still facing the possibility of relegation, whilst the Royal Knights have 6 points and Grenada 9.

The Vikings face Grenada on Sunday March 27, 2016 at 10.00am, knowing a win will put them safe from relegation and into the play offs, the Royal Knights are scheduled to face Grenada on April 3, 2016 and then on April 10, 2016, the Vincy will take on the Cavaliers, with everything at stake.

Also on Sunday at 2pm, the Wolues will be playing Virgin Gorda.
