Vincentian accused of hitting woman’s head against ice machine
Principal Crown Counsel, Tiffany Scatliffe, while reading the allegations against the accused, stated that on November 7, 2012 at 1P.M. the Virtual Complainant (VC) was on duty at the Midway Restaurant in Paraquita Bay.
It was noted that the defendant was employed at the same establishment, but was off duty on the day of the incident (this was later refuted by the defendant’s attorney who expressed that the accused was never an employee of the establishment).
Fisher-Evans is being represented by attorney at law, Ruthilia Maximea.
According to the prosecution’s facts, the VC had momentarily stepped outside to bag ice from the ice machine and was using an earpiece to listen to music at the time while doing her work.
The defendant reportedly arrived at the bar around this time with her husband who reportedly went over to the owner and began speaking to him; the accused allegedly went to where the VC was bagging ice.
It is alleged that the defendant grabbed hold of the VC and began hitting her head against the ice machine. Scatliffe stated, whilst hitting the VC’s head the defendant said, "I stay from till St Vincent and hear you having an affair with my husband."
The VC then fell to the ground and later got up and ran away and subsequently received assistance from a passer-by who was in the vicinity of the restaurant at the same time.
The woman later made a report to Police and an investigation commenced into the matter. She was met at the Road Town Police Station and complained of neck and head pain; a medical form was issued and she was later taken to Peebles Hospital in Road Town.
On November 11, 2012 the defendant was visited at her home and was cautioned and informed of the allegations before offering a denial of same. The accused was later taken to the East End Police Station and formally charged for the offence.
Fisher-Evans was offered bail in the sum of $40,000 with one surety and asked to surrender her travel documents and instructed to have no contact of any sort with the VC. She will return to court on May 9, 2013.
