Victor makes it back to back doubles!
All five starters scored in double-digits as Mark St. Fort and Victor both recorded double-doubles.
The Royals improve their record to 10-5 becoming the fifth team in The Sun Conference with at least 10 wins; the Stingers drop to 7-6 with the loss.
It was all Warner from the very beginning as the Royals scored the first nine points of the game and led 21-9 after nine minutes of action. The Royals led 44-23 at the break and defensively, the Royals forced 12 Stingers’ turnovers and held the visitors to 28.6% shooting from the field.
The Royals’ offense improved in the second half as they poured in 39 points on 50% shooting from the floor. The Royals held their largest lead of the game (32) with less than four minutes to play before settling for the 29 point victory (83-54).
Victor led the Royals’ rebounding effort that out-reached the Stingers 41-31. He finished with 16 boards, 11 points, 2 assists and 2 steals. Mark St. Fort also posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and 12 points. St. Fort also blocked a season-high four shots. Kayo Taylor rounded out the Royals’ starters in double-digits and finished with 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Halstead “JR” Chiverton was rested for the game as a precaution following a slight injury in the previous game.
During the contest Victor became the leader in minutes played for the Royals this season with 307. Apart from the rather unwanted stats of also having the most fouls and foul outs, he is third in defensive rebounds (49), second in offensive rebounds (32), second in blocked shots (10), second in steals (25), third in assists (27) and averages 8.6 points per game.
The Royals welcome in Ashford University (Iowa) tonight January 5, 2013, for their final non-conference game of the holiday break.
