‘VIBE are new Road March champs!’ – BVIF&FC
“The Road March Champs will close out the festivities [tomorrow] Saturday August 9th at the Iris Freeman Festiville,” a press release from the BVIF&FC said.
Congratulating VIBE and all the BVI bands for a job well done during the Emancipation Festival, the BVIF&FC said that the remaining parade results will be available for release tomorrow.
Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online this evening Band Manager of VIBE Mr. Roger N. Frank said that the win was “rewarding for all the of the hard work that we put in. As you know we changed the name of the band about four months ago [from VI Showtime]. It is exciting…a bit overwhelming. It is like all the hard work we put in paid off.”
Frank attributed teamwork to the band’s success. “We are a very tight-knit group. The guys trusted the plan that we set out to go ahead and accomplish in terms of what we were trying to do in changing the name of the band,” he said.
He credits songs such as 'Bubble' and 'Not Waiting' from their album for the success accomplished. “Those are the songs that pushed us in the Road March contest,” he said. “The guys are very proud of the work that they did on this album. It paid off in terms of the goals that we tried to achieve,” he said.
Asked where VIBE goes from here, Frank said, “well the sky’s the limit but we are just taking it one step at a time. We have a plan that we are progressing on slowly but surely.”
He said that the band wants to get its music more “out there” so they will be travelling around the Caribbean to achieve this objective.
Showtime Band won the Road March title six years in succession before yielding this year to VIBE.
