Puerto Rico media house, El Vocero reported on the incident on May 10, 2020, stating that the victim was identified as Rene Jack originally of the Virgin Islands and resident of Barranquitas.

It said Jack was “killed in cold blood” with several bullets to the head at an abandoned house in a remote spot in the Jaguas neighbourhood.

Jack’s boyfriend survived shooting

El Vocero further reported that Jack’s 22-year-old boyfriend, René Antonio Colón, was wounded in the arms and reportedly was spared by playing dead.

Mr Colon also reportedly told police the shooting was done by someone familiar to them.

Police Information Officer Ms Akia L. Thomas could not confirm at the time of publication whether police received any correspondence from Puerto Rico regarding the shooting of Ms Jack.

Meanwhile, police in Puerto Rico has since filed charges for the crime of first-degree murder against Adrián Marcelo Sánchez Hernández, 29, for the death of Ms Jack, according to El Nuevodia.com.
