Mr Smith was at the time appearing on the March 24, 2022, edition off 'Mr BVI', a social media panel show hosted by Angelle A. Cameron and Bishop John I. Cline on the topic of crime and youths in the VI.
Christians must engage more youths - Mr Smtih
Recalling his days as a young Christian, Smith said one solution to reach out to young people is for more Christians to engage with their peers on the street.
“The young ones that are following Christ need to go and touch them and let them know there is hope in different ways. We know it’s a challenge for them, but we can reach them,” he said.
He said; however, adults must also set the example and show they can live in harmony and love in the eyes of youths.
“The bible said these days will come… we are going to have to decide whether or not we are going to follow Christ, or we are only going to talk about Christ,” he said.
A return to Sodom & Gomorrah
Smith added that sometimes he believes the VI is returning to the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.
“We don’t need to become those people that just calling on the name [of Christ] but not living through to the name,” he said relating to youths and adults following Christianity.
The political candidate said that while he empathises with the challenges the youths of today face, including peer pressure to ‘keep up’ with brands and jewellery, they still need to be taught about the risks of venturing into crime and the vulnerability it brings.
Mr Smith had unsuccessfully contested for a seat at the 2019 General Election with the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), a party formed by members who had broken away from the National Democratic Party (NDP).
"I am thanking God...to continue to trust him, despite the challenges, despite the obstacles, despite I didn't win the last election, despite the next election I am going to win,” he said in a statement in December 2021, regarding taking another shot at getting a seat in the VI House of Assembly.

Go sit down for god sake
So you are saying that the BVI needs to show more hospitality. Okay. How about removing the oppressive taxes on remittances.
What I think is more important at this juncture is for parents to be involved in their children education so that they will be able to contribute towards the development of the territory. I would advocate that focus should be on the development of more social programs for adults and children alike. Attention should be placed on technical education for youths who drop out of schools, conflict resolution and good morale standard. They should be thought how to manage finance and assets. Unless Lesmore can develop programs such as these, then ye should not waste his time.
NDP is who?????
await your input!!!!!
a day and the seniors in the nursing home have to share a slice of cheap probably stale bread. Can someone please explain that to me? The illegals that is going to be a burden on the County is SLUCKING down good food and the elders is treated like nothings. This Country is one big dirty, disgusting joke. The seniors paved the way for everyone. When you guys is driving around on the roads in your cars just remember the seniors use to walk those then dirt roads and paths just to get into Road Town to a job that was only paying some of them less than 50 cents a day.
To suggest that the BVI community was once, or is becoming like Sodom (Note that Mr Smith said "VI RETURNING to the days of Sodom and Gomorrah") is not only grossly untruthful, but also rude, vicious and insulting to us, to say the least. In my opinion
he is a poor choice to exhort the christian faith and an even poorer choice t serve as a BVI representative.
