CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- Teamwork and perseverance were displayed when the Royal BVI Yacht Club Youth Sailing Team participated in the St Thomas Yacht Club’s 2025 MLK Regatta on January 18 and 19, 2025.

The team travelled to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands to participate in the Championship Fleet and the Green Fleet (for less experienced racers), a press release from the Royal BVI Yacht Club on January 21, 2025, said.

The Virgin Islands’ (VI) Green Fleet comprised Arun Bissoondutt, Ashton Starkey, Rosie Wooldridge, and Archie Dowling, while the Championship Fleet included Aerin Westlake, Piper Bailey, Maggie Nolan and Henry Clifton.

On Day One, racers set out of Cowpet Bay where they experienced 4-foot chops and a solid 6-foot base swell. Three races were completed before the Green Fleets were sent in due to weather conditions.

Notable results from the Green Fleet on Day One was Ashton Starkey who finished with one 1st and two 3rd Places, coming in Second Place overnight. Arun Bissoondutt finished 4th in Race Three.

For the Championship Fleet on Day One, Aerin Westlake had five 6th Place finishes and Piper Bailey posted 9th and 10th Place.

On Day Two, the Green Fleets were moved to a less exposed sailing area while the Championship Fleets were sent out to Cow and Calf Rocks.
