VI residents conquer 45th NYC Marathon!




D’Monte was the fastest of the four completing the 26.2 mile journey.
In making his debut, D’Monte ran at a 9 minute and 51 seconds pace for the 26.2 miles through the five Boroughs, to finish in 4 hours 18 minutes and 01 seconds.
Ferrari, followed in 4:28.36, averaging 10:15 and Dubois, in his first time at the distance, was timed in 4:41.50, for an average of 10:45.
Philomena Robertson had a time of 4:54.03, well off her 4 hour target, averaging 11:13 per mile.
The men’s race was won by Kenya's Stanley Biwott, who won his first major marathon title after finishing second in London last year. He finished in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 34 seconds, beating countryman Geoffrey Kamworor by 14 seconds. Reigning Boston Marathon champ Lelisa Desisa was third.
Kenya’s Mary Keitany is the first woman to repeat winning the New York City Marathon since Paula Radcliffe in 2008. The 33-year-old defended her title Sunday in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, 25 seconds, beating Ethiopia's Aselefech Mergia by 67 seconds.
Ethiopia's Tigist Tufa took third.
