ST JOHN'S, Antigua & Barbuda- The Virgin Islands’ remote-control drag racing community has reason to celebrate after a strong showing at Come to the Line, a Caribbean competition staged by RC Nation 268 at Northsound International Raceway in Antigua and Barbuda on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Racers from several islands faced off over a 132-foot strip, with the Virgin Islands squad delivering standout results, most notably a podium finish and one of the quickest runs recorded at the event.

Junie Takes Third

Ivan B. Smith, widely known in racing circles as 'Junie', was the Virgin Islands team’s top performer. In control of Red October, he reached the semifinal round and finished third overall, earning a place on the podium.

Smith also posted the fastest elapsed time of the competition at 1.2079 seconds. According to the team, that run was the second-quickest RC drag racing time recorded in Antigua, a major milestone for both the driver and the Virgin Islands programme.

Teammates advance

Kevin K. Smith, called 'Imo', also made his presence felt. Racing both Justice and Rude Boy, he progressed to the quarterfinals and registered a best time of 1.256 seconds.

Martin M. Malone, known as 'Smoke', competed with Blue Smoke and recorded a quickest pass of 1.382 seconds. While he did not reach the later elimination rounds, his performance added to the team’s overall presence at the regional meet.

A Growing Regional Sport

The BVI RC Drag Racing Team said the results reflect the increasing skill and enthusiasm for the sport at home, as well as the value of competing against drivers from across the Caribbean.

The organisers framed the gathering around regional camaraderie, using the message: “Different islands. One RC family. Together we race.”

The team thanked RC Nation 268, event officials, rival racers, and supporters, and said it intends to continue entering regional events while representing the Virgin Islands on the growing RC drag racing circuit.
