TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Both Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) will be passengers on the inaugural Miami to Virgin Islands flight when American Airlines (AA) commences its operation on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

The Premier made the announcement on May 25, 2023, at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island after a test flight by the airline.

In a video posted by the Government Information Service (GIS) Facebook page, the Premier remarked on how historic the flight will be when the service commences on June 1.

“I don't want anybody to be confused that I'll be piloting the plane next week, I'm not going to be piloting the plane next week. We’re piloting the government of the BVI, but next week the Minister and I will be passengers on the plane, it’s going to be historic and we're looking forward to it.“

'Looking forward to wonderful partnership'- Premier

He continued, “And we're looking forward to this wonderful partnership between American Airlines… It's going to be beautiful, you see that the planes are full, the demand is there and we will ensure that we make this relationship successful on all sides,” he added.

American Airlines will conduct the Miami to VI service with the Embraer E175LR, which was used for the test flight last Thursday.

During the First Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on May 18, 2023, Works Minister Hon Rymer shared that the demand for the flight is so high, the airline has committed to five additional flights for the month of June, with two flights each also on June 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 30th.

This is a real historic achievement...VIP did it...Lovely..Here is the only draw back why the agent has to be Romney's? , Hope the workers getting at lease $11.00 per hr minimum...This is minimum wage aint going cut it...As a matter a fact Govt should move ASAP to increase minimum wage for $9.50 Except those in the service industry that receive tips / Gratuity. They should be increased to $8.00. Per hr..

Reality check, the Industry did this, not politics.
And the industry chose to use a local agent they know can do the job.
You would prefer to see an outsider get contract?
Or a friend who knows nothing of industry?
Jealous much? guess you can judge all this from behind the desk of your successful business.

Minimum wage does not mean that employers can't pay more. If they want to retain their workers they ought to pay more. Satisfied workers ensure more profitability for businesses and it also cost businesses more when they have to keep training new employees. I always admire Royal Shop. They must be doing something good because those 3 ladies have been there for years! I'm sure there are other businesses who do not have a quick turnover of employees.

I am going to say this, why is it that you and persons like yourself continue to make yourselves the braying JA. If you had enough common sense you would know that cannot be done nor will it be approved by the US Government. And guess what, it is not mandatory that they have to go look for Andrew. If Andrew was not greedy and manipulative he would be standing where Kye and Natalio is standing today holding the territory down. Kye and Natalio did not step on the Feds plane and touch the Feds money out of greed and stupidity. They don’t need to go look for S..T.
