ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - There was a moderate crowd last night Friday, May 24, 2024, as the Virgin Islands Music Festival kicked off on the grounds of the reclamation behind Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex, in Road Town, on the main island of Tortola.

Despite the rains and wet ground that may have caused many to stay away, those who showed up were treated to the beautiful music of; Rotimi, Voice, Start Martin, Too Smooth Band, Boss and Razor Blades and the popular Vibe among others.

Persons attending the event gave positive feedback about night 1, however,  the rains remained a challenge to the grounds.

Line up for night 2

Night 2, May 25, 2024, is expected to be huge once the rains hold, according to organisers. Music lovers can expect performances from; Priceless, Alkaline, Banco Bizmol, Monea and I’Ritical among others.

One resident, a controversial Talk Show host Rosemary L. Rosan aka ‘Cindy’ has called for a boycott of the event, however, has not given a reason why. It is unclear if residents have followed her wishes, as she is a critic of the Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government.

The last night will feature; Gramps Morgan, Harella, Freddie Jackson and Sistah Joyce among others.

The theme of the VI Music Festival 2024 is 60 Beats, 1 Vibe!

A certain Facebook person say people shouldn’t want bad for the Music Fest asking if they house got food if their rent paid and what this individual falls to realize is that Music Fest is bad for our Territory when it has more important issues like lack of running water, mold in schools (Joyce Samuel Primary for one), deteriorating roads, an incomplete Admin Complex almost 7 years since Hurricane Irma, and the list goes on.

People spending money that they don’t have saving for a Music Fest then want to beg for money and cry broke.

You sound so fxxxing crazy, Cindy has a good reason for boycotting and it aint because of no damn road or anything like that. She has a personal beef with Shawunde becsuse he refused to give her( $1,000,000.00. ) one million dollars of the government's money for firing her fro Tourist Board. Now Mr.Question what's your reason?

I did not go, have no intentions and will not support it. Rosn or Cline or no other person has any influence over me because I calculate things on my own and don't need nonody to help me decide anything. I know a couple young people who need jobs but the government don't have money in the budget to hire them. There is no low entry job earning at least minumum wage to keep them off the street but er have found millions to keep a party and hire bands, pay yo clear the area, pay for stage and all that comes with this nonsense event at a time where the funds can be used to better the development of our i frastructure, health and education system. But no, diddy be wanting to party and we gotta tell Diddy no. But our Diddy Premier wouldn't listen. In April I bought 2 tires before time and a few weeks ago I had to buy 2 more. Almost every week there is a puncture had to get my car line up after dropping in unavoidable ditches. Everything rattles in the vehicle. Why would I psy the government for helping to destroy the country. Last year our BVI diddy had a useless party to welcome AA. He keeps making these bad decisions and absolutely no one in his circle to sit him down and show him sone sense.

I hope by Monday morning the BVI will be better off because od our weekend party

If the photographer wanted to show how many there we would know. From these angles looks like only performers turned up. Still not a waste or money as you can be sure the $650,000 dollars was passed to the friends and family. We will never know who because it is never in the publics interest to know where these thousands and millions and millions of dollars really go. No for the good of the territory that is for sure.

Very vague reporting , what the he** is “ moderate “ its our money that was spent so give us real figures of attendance. When this nonsense is done as a tax payer I expect a truthful accounting of how much was spent in total and how much was received. It is our money and we should know how it has been wasted.

Music festival with no real good band playing real music. You have the two most popular mash up and pack up session bands in the Region...Signal out of Dominica and Gran Masters out of St. Kitts and none on the ticket for both music fest in the BVI. The organizers don't know what they are doing. These bands are half the price of a Jamaican artist and give you 2 solid hrs. while them expensive artist give you 45mins or 1 hr the most. .
