VI Governor & Top CoP blasted for silence on spate of killings
Mrs Cameron’s calls came on the Tuesday, April 20, 2021, edition of ‘My BVI,’ a social media panel show alongside Bishop John I. Cline and Dr Albert L. Thompkins.
The panel discussion centred on the silence of persons responsible for security and safety in the Government and asked 'Why is there no visible police presence and when is our community going to finally stand up?'
Rise in blatant serious crimes now in VI
According to the panellists, the rise in blatant, senseless crime in the VI has broken the sense of security and comfort within the communities where burglaries, murder, theft, drug trafficking and many other crimes continue to plague the territory amidst the silence of those responsible for the sector.
“We take this opportunity, and we use this platform to say to Commissioner Mark Collins and to Governor Rankin that we need to hear from you. It is important that you address our community on these issues that matter to us,” Mrs Cameron said.
She added: “It is important that we understand what the plan is going to be moving forward as it related to curbing, removing, arresting, investigating, all types and manners of crimes because we need answers and we need them now.”
Governor & ToP CoP have responsibility for security - Cameron
Mrs Cameron said both Commissioner Collins and Governor Rankin have a responsibility of national security and should bear the burden of taking responsibility.
Adding his voice to the conversation, Bishop Cline noted that in the same haste the UK would take action in the VI’s financial services sector over allegations of money laundering, he said the UK-appointed governor should address the rising crime.
"If chaos comes under your watch, we will blame you…you have been given responsibility for national security,” Bishop Cline said.

The people pay a price.
Sometimes I ask myself if some of us dwell in parallel universes where paradise is their reality.
Not long ago I had a chat with a local regarding an unsolved killing here in the BVI. He claimed to have had some insight into the matter.
When asked why not share that info with the police, the response was, "not me Mehson, jus leave that alone right whea it tase."
With such mentality and apprehension and/or fear just what is the authorities expected to do? So I wouldn't be too quick to arrive at negative conclusions my friends.
Perhaps we can all ask "what do I know or have heard that I can share no matter how minute or seemingly irrelevant?" It may just be what's needed for the solution.
To our own selves let us all be true!!!!
If you need a crime free society it is easy but not feasible. Assign a police officer to every resident. The officer go where they go. The the bathroom to sh.t to school to their work place, case solve. These nondeplu...s getting an audience to make folks believe that they are SMART. Who is the lady and what authority does she possess to demand anything from the governor. If she want credence and credibility come out of the studio, get petitions, organize a March, go to the governor mansion and police HQ and see who is with you or stop spinning a top in mud former beauty. Yea I know I'm bad. Signed Joshua.
of these VI. We have proven to be incapable by making the VI the septic tank . We had plenty time but it is getting worse . If UK ctizens are permitted to vote and run for office here, things will improve. For starters, incinerator would be fixed . Property value increase.
