DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – The smooth rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in the Virgin Islands (VI) continues with some 5031 persons having been vaccinated as of March 10, 2021, according to Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL).

In a statement at the Sixth Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) on March 10, 2021, Hon Carvin Malone revealed the community health centre approach adopted by the government for vaccination rollout, has allowed the vaccine to reach citizens across the territory.

“Using this community vaccination approach, we have been able to achieve between 500 to 600 vaccinations per day with the exception of the days that the program was placed on hold due to concerns,” he said.

Second batch of vaccines in new week – Hon Malone

Those concerns the Minister revealed, were as a result of uncertainty with the arrival date for the second shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines from the United Kingdom and it led to a 4-day pause of vaccination from March 3 to 8, 2021.

With some 5031 persons having since received vaccination in the territory as of March 10, 2021, the Health Minister said that vaccination number accounts for 4113 individuals on Tortola, 770 on Virgin Gorda, 68 on Anegada and 80 on Jost van Dyke.

Hon Malone said UK through Governor John J. Rankin, CMG has since indicated that the next batch of 12,000 vaccines would arrive in the VI on March 17, 2021.

Fetal cell lines labeled HEK293 were used in the development of the AstraZeneca Vaccine and in human trials.

Imagine, if you will, a vaccine that is so safe and so effective that you have to force people to take it or a virus so dangerous and deadly you have to get tested to know if you even have it.

I mean sure COVID has crippled intensive care units in nations that are far more developed than hours but what is there to worry about? The borders will fully open eventually and given the size of many people those underlying health conditions will be prime pickings for COVID.

That all said no one is forcing you have the vaccine if you dont want it. Just dont go crying if you cant get treatment for other conditions cos the hospital is dealing with COVID patients

To all the idiots, juju men and witch doctors. Check out the fall in death rates in the UK since they got nearly half the population and all of the most vulnerable vaccinated.

You believe everything you read in the media. Flu season is winding down hence the lower instances of flu around the world. Who are you fooling? Next flu season when people start dying again AS USUAL lets see if we lockdown again. The only difference with cases since vaccines is the media's reporting so it seems like theres some big progress.

This is just the beginning of the "The Great Reset". The globalists have succeeded in forcing eugenics on the global population. The evidence this is a PLANdemic is right in front of our faces, but tell people and be labeled a conspiracy theorist. Anyhow, only the strong survive been that way since the beginning of time.

You got this one right ! People need to open their eyes and ears. They have a way of putting it right in our faces and yet we deny it.

Oh dear that is some food for thought.
It is safe, and the more people take it the more effective. And the reason for that is that the disease is so dangerous And to be protected from it is a great gift. For your other point, if you do not test and catch this dangerous thing early whole nations can be incapacitated and many live lost. That is Food for Thought for those that are able to hear. It is so dangerous because people like yourself cannot see the danger to yourself and seem to not care about the danger to others.

This confuses me. What are the people who mindlessly believe and follow nonsense on social media? That also seems to be sheep like behaviour if I am not mistaken.

I get it that some of you like to believe in conspiracies, it makes you feel smarter than the people who were better than you at school and who have done more with their lives. Still doesn't change that you lack any critical thinking skills when presented with fake news and are dumb as a bag of rocks. COVID will sadly put natural selection into action for a lot of people. Look at the people in the US that were vaccine or virus sceptics that have succumbed to the virus, dont matter what you believe when COVID come calling. Many people will be fortunate to survive but many will not and if you are happy transmitting a virus to others and putting their health at risk you need to own that rather than hiding behind it all being some vast conspiracy

It is interesting to me that it is the EU countries who are blocking the AZ vaccine. Politicking yet again methinks. All the whilst their numbers are growing week by week....persons being moved to other countries because their own hospitals can not cope. In the meantime, the BVI still wont let the Brits in - despite the fact that their numbers have fallen dramatically and they have vaccinated 45% of their adult population. Politics yet again.

Someone posted a media link to the dramatic fall in cases in the UK and the next person said don't trust the media. So where are you getting all your information from? Suddenly everyone is reading the BMJ, The Lancet, Nature research journals?

So BVI - what is the plan? How long do you think we are going to survive at this rate? Some businesses can survive a year or two with minimal business as they eat through their cash reserves. But by the end of this year, or likely summer, we will see more and more closures. If on the other hand we do start to open back up as enough persons get vaccinated we will only be able to welcome tourists who have had their vaccinations which is what many countries are starting to implement. Similarly, tourism and front line workers will need to have the vaccine to be able to service those persons.

I am sure this will get lots of unlikes but also no alternative solutions - just the usual rebuttal about go and live on salt island and not wanting to be a guinea pig.
