VI confirms 3rd COVID-19 related death
The news comes just a day after another individual hospitalised in the COVID-19 ICU of the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital passed away on the morning of July 8, 2021.
Today's death was confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Social Development in a release via the Government Information Service (GIS).
Underlying conditions a factor
According to the report, the deceased is a 72-year-old male who had underlying medical conditions and at the time of his death he was a patient at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.
Acting Chief Medical officer, Dr Ronald E. Georges said the news of the latest death is sad development in the territory.
“It is sad to report another death just one day after our second COVID related death was confirmed. I want to express condolences and sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased,” he said.
