VI confirms 3rd COVID-19 related death

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands (VI) has confirmed its third COVID-19 related death today, July 9, 2021.

The news comes just a day after another individual hospitalised in the COVID-19 ICU of the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital passed away on the morning of July 8, 2021.

Today's death was confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Social Development in a release via the Government Information Service (GIS).

Underlying conditions a factor 

According to the report, the deceased is a 72-year-old male who had underlying medical conditions and at the time of his death he was a patient at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Acting Chief Medical officer, Dr Ronald E. Georges said the news of the latest death is sad development in the territory.

“It is sad to report another death just one day after our second COVID related death was confirmed.  I want to express condolences and sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased,” he said.

      1/ Lockdown will require unemployment stimulus. . SK just had a 2 Weeks lockdown they already allocated 15 million for stimulus....
      2/ people are already suffering, can't afford to add to it. 3/ Only Civil servants that benefits from lockdown, they are the ones that always calling for lockdown, they get additional vacations with pay. ...4/ By the end of this month the numbers will go down drastically...So relax

    I heard a plan to build an out door facility to host the sick. That is great plan, what's going with that? We really need to get the sick out of that cold contaminated hospital, it's only making the situation worst. They need fresh Air and Sunlight..

    borders open and cash coming in but the money going to expand medical facilities and buy medical supplies

    while the borders were closed cash flow was slow but covid cases were few and far apart
