VI Cadet Corps marks 5th anniversary
The group will be involved in several events for the month of March in observance of their anniversary, including an activity planned for this Friday at the Elmore Stoutt High School.
The VI Cadet Corps (VICC) began with a pilot project in 2008 and officially started in March of the following year. It currently has a membership comprised of forty cadets and eight adults.
According to Major Selwyn F. Rock, the VICC is a youth development programme that focuses primarily on discipline and acquiring skills in team leadership. He noted that it does not prepare youths for entry into military service.
The group enrolls youths between the ages of 11-19 and meets on Saturdays from 9-12 at the Elmore Stoutt High School. The VICC is organised by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) with support and collaboration from the Ministry and Department of Education Culture.
Deputy Premier, Dr The Hon. Kedrick D. Pickering and Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron V. Walwyn were also in attendance at the service.
