VI Ballers Abroad enjoy the 12 points of Christmas
The Kent State University men's basketball team (7-5) dropped a road game to the Pac-12's Oregon State Beavers (4-9), 69-50, despite collecting 34 offensive rebounds, 49 total, the most of any team in the NCAA this season and the programme record in this century.
However, the Flashes could not overcome a late second half Beaver run and a rough shooting night, finishing at 27.6 percent (21-for-76) from the floor and 4.2 percent (1-for-24) from 3-point range. Oregon State shot 54.3 percent (25-for-46) from the floor and 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from distance.
Deon J. Edwin picked up 12 points, 3 rebounds, a block and a steal.
Meanwhile, Stevie Jordan led the Rider University men’s basketball team with 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds, but the Broncs fell at Massachusetts, 78-67.
Norville S. Carey aka Banana ended with 12 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.
And, Leslee Smith and the Bristol Flyers held off a valiant fourth quarter fightback from Cheshire Phoenix to claim an 89-95 victory for their third straight league win.
Andreas Kapoulas' side saw their 22-point advantage whittled down to just two points but held on for a double-winning weekend on the road.
Six players reached double figures for the Flyers including Aaron Cosby and Daniel Edozie who added a combined 31 points from the bench.
Leslee J. Smith finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds and a steal.
