VG Summer Jam: Set It Off & In Dah Zone close in on titles

- both teams are 2-nil up in best-of-five championships; SVA Stars defeated On A Mission to win C Division

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Jevone Demming had a stellar 29-point performance as Set It Off staved off a tough challenge from fellow Tortola team Sr Skillful Ballers to go 2-nil up in their best-of-5 Championship Series in Group A of the Summer Jam Basketball Tournament on Virgin Gorda on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Demming also had 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, and 5 Assists as Set It Off racked up 97 points as against Ballers’ 92 at the Jeffrey Caines Arena in the Valley.

Other persons contributing significantly to the scoreboard for the win were Randy George (19 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Block) and Ray D. Victor (15 Points, 3 Rebounds, 5 Blocks, 1 Steal, 5 Assists).

Douron Phillip was the chief scorer for Sr Skillful Baller. He ended with 17 points, 10 Rebounds, 1 Block, and 1 Steal in a losing cause.

Franklyn L. Penn Jr netted 15 Points, and also had 5 Rebounds, 4 Steals, 4 Assists, while Antwon Robinson dropped in 14 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Steals, and 3 Assists.

In Da Zone go 2-nil up in B Division

In the B Division Championship, In Da Zone also closed in on winning a title as they went 2-nil up against Team Elite, winning 74-71.

T'Khoi Richardson top scored for In Dah Zone with 21 Points, and also had 9 Rebounds.

Jaden Abrams contributed 20 Points, 2 Rebounds, and 2 Blocks, while Joel Mars dropped in 18 Points, pulled 7 Rebounds, made 1 Block, 3 Steals, and 1 Assist.

Ajani Stevens, for Team Elite, had a game-high 22 Points, and also had 6 Rebounds, 4 Steals, and 1 Assist.

Lekoy Lennard had 16 Points, 13 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 3 Assists, while Michael Robinson scored 9 Points, and made 5 Rebounds, 3 Steals, and 2 Assists.

SVA Stars win C Division

Meanwhile, SVA Stars are the C Division champions of the 2023 Summer Jam.

In the deciding game on Saturday, SVA Stars beat On A Mission 58-4.

Play continues on Friday, December 15, 2023, when there is a possibility the series will be decided in both A and B divisions.
