VG Stabbing: 16-year-old charged with manslaughter

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – One minor has been charged with Manslaughter in relation to the fatal stabbing incident in Virgin Gorda on December 3, 2022.

The 16-year-old male, represented by Attorney Michael Maduro, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail in the amount of $70,000 with one surety.

Police said the minor will return to court in January 2023.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, 23-year-old Nayib Clarke was stabbed several times in the region of his chest and other parts of his body during an altercation with the teenager.

The injured man later succumbed at Nurse Iris O'Neal Medical Facility.

      MAAM, THE DEAD VICTIM WAS THE ACTUAL AGGRESSOR. BOTH PERSONS HELD HIM IN THE HOUSE, BUT HE SLIPPED OUT IN A RAGE TO GO AND TACKLE THE YOUNGSTER. THE YOUNGSTER RETALIATED.

          The person that died was acting irrational and wanted to attack the young boy. The young boy was defending himself.

    A 16 year old charged with manslaughter. The unlawful killing of a human being without malice. Malice is the intention or desire to do evil/ill will. The killers is getting younger and younger. The other day, a 10 year old boy in Wisconsin shot and killed his mother because she woke him up at 6:30 A.M for school and she refuse to by him a PLAYSTATION VR. Wisconsin is charging the 10 year old as an adult.

        It is the same damn thing, only difference is one killed his cousin, family member with a knife and the boy in Wisconsin killed his mother a family member with a bullet. They are both children, 16 and 10. Only difference, knife and gun, Tortola, Wisconsin.

    It is sad that this young man lost his life. However with the eyewitness account this seems to have clearly been a self defense action. Hopefully this young man will not get a long jail term. This family needs a lot of support and prayers. I don't know them personally but I pray that God will comfort you and you will forgive and comfort each other.

      Finally someone with sense commented. If there's witness and the young man defended himself cause his life was in danger he shouldn't be charged with manslaughter. He protected his life by all means necessary and most ppl always say oh shouldn't have done this and that but wait till you get a situation and see what your outcome will be to save yourself.

      Did the decease have a weapon,display a deadly weapon utilize a weapon against his killer?
      The killer child, armed with a deadly weapon, stabbed the now deceased numerous times while his victim lay prone and pouring out blood on the sacred land of VIslanders ,desecrating their Fathers and their Mothers' toil . A scene forever captured by a crowd of live witnesses, some videotaping and cheering.

      Somebody died and they were the aggressor. You can’t beat on people and expect them not to react??? This young man can rest in peace and we could acknowledge he were wrong in the situation. The eyewitness say he had soooo many opportunities to rest himself… he made choices and he lost his life for it

      The VN circulating right..that person was THERE. I know them! it’s not hearsay. And there is ton of evidence that the victim was the aggressor like a broken down door. The young man was not looking any trouble, he ran!! Ya’ll mourn but don’t make excuses for a man’s actions. He also had decisions to make that could have kept him alive.. I pray he rests well but I also pray for the safety of this kid.
