VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- As Virgin Gorda prepares to receive an influx of visitors for the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival beginning this weekend, the sister island has received a much-welcomed facelift.

In fact, cleanup work on Virgin Gorda started months ago but picked up ahead of the Easter Festival, which will be held from April 19-21, 2025, at Berton Creque Festival Village.

No one was more thankful than Ninth District Representative, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley, who is also the Minister for Health and Social Development.

‘A big shout out’

“As we approach the Easter Weekend, I just want to give a big shout out to the Team at PWD, Waste Management, Ace & the RATED Team and all the private contractors who worked really hard to get VG cleaned up over the past few months, it’s looking pretty good,” Hon Wheatley stated on his Facebook page today, April 16, 2025.

In an invited comment, Hon Wheatley told our News Centre that clean-up works were done in the areas of Bregado Flax Education Centre to The Baths, most secondary roads in the Valley, Lee and Tower Roads, Little Hill and Crab Hill roads, and Hog Heaven to Long Bay.

“Windy Hill is being done as we speak,” Hon Wheatley stated.

I don't understand. Why is this making the news, the place should always be clean. No pat on the back should be given for what must be done.

That’s great to hear—sounds like Virgin Gorda is pulling out all the stops to make the Easter Festival a beautiful, welcoming celebration. It’s impressive how coordinated the cleanup effort has been across public and private teams.
