VG Fungi Fest & Food Fair well attended despite rain
The event saw many children taking part in face painting, playing in bouncy castles and otherwise frolicking in the many activities that kept them busy.
The events were part of the calendar of activities for the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival.
A group of brightly dressed girls and boys took part in the traditional plaiting of the May Pole.
There was food in abundance as many food booths brought a taste of the VI to the many patrons which included scores of tourists and expatriates.
Among the booths that were there was the BVI Cancer Society which provided patrons with leaflets containing information on treatment options and screening. There were also a number of religious organisations taking part.
There were numerous booths peddling trinkets, clothing and other items which drew the crowd’s attention.
There was also a live performance by the Hot Shots fungi band which had the young and old jiving to the upbeat rhythms and renditions of not only traditional fungi ballads but also covers of newer popular tunes sang to the fungi beat.
In the midst of the activities was Grace Vanterpool for whom the 2014 Easter Festival was named to honour her sterling contribution to the festival over the many years.
