VG Easter Festival Parade 'virtually' starting on time today!
The annual celebrations were set for April 11 – 13, 2020 and the weekend would have undoubtedly seen hundreds, if not thousands, converging on the sister island for activities such as cultural food fair, fisherman’s tournament, calypso competition, and nightly entertainment in the festival village.
Instead, the Territory is on a 14-day lock-down in its fight against Novel Coronavirus.
Virtual festival!
This; however, has not stopped some persons on Virgin Gorda, including Ninth District Representative and Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley, from catching the vibes of Easter Festival and giving persons at home something to remember and smile about.
“We decided that we are having a festival still but a virtual festival, so we just post the pictures from whenever you have. For example, tonight [Sunday] would have been Calypso night, so we posting all those who are competing. It’s just living a fantasy,” Honourable Wheatley said.
Early start to parade!
"Well well well, looks like the parade going actually start on time today, I just drove through and see Troops lining up already. Had to take a photo of mi gal Rose. Happy Easter Monday all. More pics to come later, lil tired after Jouvert," Hon Wheatley wrote on one of his picture posts on Facebook today, April 13, 2020.
The Virgin Gorda Easter Festival would have been celebrating its 53rd anniversary this week.
