VG Airport reopening delayed until Tue, Sept 12, 2023
The Taddy Bay Airport on Virgin Gorda was originally closed on August 29, 2023, to facilitate maintenance to the runway.
Mr. Menal said in a notice on September 6, 2023, that maintenance works on the airport were scheduled to be completed on that day with the reopening on Thursday, September 7, 2023, however, that is now delayed as the Territory is currently monitoring an active weather system.
“The Managing Director said a decision was made to delay the reopening until the system departs and a thorough inspection of the new surface will be undertaken ahead of the reopening on Tuesday,” a release on the day noted.
Mr. Menal thanked the traveling public in Virgin Gorda for its patience and cooperation and said that the BVIAA authority seeks to uphold its motto of “Safety is our #1 Priority”.
Mr Menal also encouraged persons to contact the Operations Department at telephone number (284) 394- 8000 or via email at ops@bviaa.com should they have any queries or concerns regarding the closure.
