Venezuelan convicted of illegal entry, drugs & firearm offences ordered deported


Franklin Jose Ramirez Garcia was, in November 2020, sentenced to 7 years in jail for cocaine and firearm offences and also sentenced to six months in jail for illegal entry.
Governor Pruce ordered Garcia’s deportation on April 8, 2025, according to the Official Gazette.
Deportation Order
“WHEREAS it has come to my knowledge that FRANKLIN JOSE RAMIREZ GARCIA is a person not deemed to belong to the Territory and that the said FRANKLIN JOSE RAMIREZ GARCIA has landed in the Territory contrary to the provisions of the Immigration and Passport (Revised Edition 2013) and has been convicted of the offences of illegal entry, possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, possession of a controlled drug and keep or carry firearm without a license, all of which are punishable with imprisonment of three months or more and, is a person whose presence in the Territory would, in the opinion of the Governor, acting after consultation with the Chief Immigration Officer, be undesirable and not conducive to the public good;
“NOW THEREFORE, I, DANIEL PRUCE Governor of the Territory of the Virgin Islands, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 40(1)(a), (b) and (c) of the Immigration and Passport Act (Revised Edition 2013) do hereby order the said FRANKLIN JOSE RAMIREZ GARCIA to leave the Territory of the Virgin Islands on or before the expiration of seven days from the date on which a copy of this Order is served on him by an immigration officer or a police officer, and thereafter to remain out of the Territory; AND I do further order that the said FRANKLIN JOSE RAMIREZ GARCIA be placed on board the first available ship or aircraft about to leave the Territory and that the said FRANKLIN JOSE RAMIREZ GARCIA may be detained until he is placed on a ship or an aircraft,” Governor Pruce wrote on the Statutory Instrument 2025 NO. 33.
