SOPHIE BAY, Tortola, VI- An electrical pole was cut in half when an SUV slammed into it at Sophie Bay, Tortola today, August 8, 2019.

The pole, with live wires, also reportedly struck another vehicle, damaging its window screen.

The road through Sophie Bay and the steep hill further east is an accident prone area. A few weeks ago a lumber truck lost its entire load while heading up that hill and the scattered lumber blocked the road for hours.
