USVI: VIPD investigating discovery of 2 bodies in burnt vehicle
FREDERIKSTED, St. Croix, USVI- The V.I Police Department’s (VIPD) Criminal Investigation Bureau has opened an investigation following the discovery of two deceased individuals found in a burnt vehicle near the beach adjacent to the former Good Hope School in Frederiksted.
VIPD’s Director of Communications Glen Dratte said the discovery was reported to authorities at about 5:08 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024. Upon receiving the calls, units from the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Unit along with Forensic Units and the Emergency Medical & Fire Services responded to the scene.
Investigators are processing the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The identities of the deceased individuals are still unknown at this time and confirmation from the medical examiner’s office is pending.
The crime scene has been cordoned off as law enforcement officials are conducting a thorough examination of the site. Additional details have not been released by authorities regarding the possible cause of the fire or any potential suspects.
