There will soon be no grandfather's in the Virgin Islands. The black family is slowly reverting hack to where the ancestors worked so hard to move it from. Our children continue to grow with the wrong things being focused on. Gone are the days when children had to respect all adults, have manners, respect, morals and good work ethics. Today rather than deal with them we fill them up with sugar, give them expensive clothes and jewelry, buy them expensive gadgets and they can't even read and write properly. They jumping in and out of big people conversations and they can't carry a simple message home. Remember when we got sent to the corner shop with a list we had to recall from memory, and we could not dare forget anything? WE are to blame for the deterioration of our community. The outside influences have ALWAYS been there, but somehow our ancestors were able to endure. We have become lazy, greedy and selfish. What we plant we sow!
