USVI man viciously attacks ex-girlfriend
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — Police in the US Virgin Islands on Thursday October 26, 2017 arrested a man who viciously attacked his ex-girlfriend after he witnessed her talking to another man, according to [US] Virgin Islands Police Department [VIPD] Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.
Police responded to the assault case at the Juan F. Luis Hospital on Thursday, where they met with the victim.
The victim told the officers that at around 1:45 A.M. Thursday, her ex-boyfriend saw her talking to a male friend. The ex-boyfriend then came to her apartment and as she opened the door, he punched her in the face while she held her infant child — knocking them both to the floor, according to Mr Dratte.
The victim further stated that the enraged ex-boyfriend punched her a second time and struck her with a ceramic vase on her head. He then struck her repeatedly with a small pot on her head, stripped her naked and dragged her down a flight of stairs while telling her that he was going to kill her.
The victim, who sustained multiple lacerations about her body, was transported to the hospital via ambulance and was treated.
Police immediately moved on the case and arrested the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ajani Davis, and charged him with first-degree assault and attempted murder. Mr Davis was not granted bail, as per the territory’s domestic violence laws. He was then remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
