CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, USVI- The V.I. Police Department (VIPD) has announced that it is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, October 13, 2024, near the Tequila Bar on Kronprindsens Gade.

According to the press release, the 911 Emergency Call Center was alerted at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Sunday by the Shot Spotter detection system, which reported multiple gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered an unresponsive black male who had sustained several gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on the scene confirmed that the individual had no vital signs.

Victim’s name not released

The identity of the victim is currently being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

The VIPD has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Virgin Islands Police Department at (340) 774-2211 or the Criminal Investigation Unit’s Major Crimes Division at (340) 714-9823, (340) 714-9828, or (340) 714-9829. Crime Stoppers can also be reached at 1(800)222-8477 (TIPS) for anonymous tips.

    We need that shot spotter system. We have a partnership but lacking in common sense. Always reactionary. Police here is a joke. But what isnt in the BVI. The police would say it too except those with their chest puff out.
