USVI man set to take plea deal in rape trial shot dead
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— One of four men arrested in 2017 for his involvement in the East End Rape incident that rocked St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) was found shot to death inside a house in Frederiksted at about 10:38am on Tuesday June 11, 2019, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed to The Consortium.
Link Baltimore Jr was arrested in May 2017 along with three other young men and charged with first-degree rape, kidnap for rape, third-degree burglary, unauthorised possession of a stolen vehicle, and first-degree robbery. He was set to enter a plea deal on June 21, 2019 according to public records.
Mr Baltimore was shot multiple times about the body at the home in Concordia, Frederiksted, and was found inside the house. Police sources say the shooting had all the hallmarks of an execution.
The VIPD said the incident is being investigated by the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation and Major Crime units.
Mr Baltimore was identified by next of kin. He was 20.
