USVI man pleads guilty to possession of child pornography
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — Today, December 21, 2016 Antonio Sanes Carmona, 45, of St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI), pleaded guilty before US Magistrate Judge George Cannon Jr to possession of child pornography, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced.
Carmona’s sentencing is scheduled for April 20, 2017.
According to the plea agreement filed with the court, on August 17, 2016, Sanes Carmona was part of a peer-to-peer network on the Internet where he used his desktop computer to possess 51 images of child pornography. The images showed minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults and other minors.
Sanes Carmona faces a term of imprisonment of not more than 10 years and a fine of not more than $250,000. He has been detained since August 19, 2016.
The case was investigated by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rhonda Williams-Henry.
