USVI man jailed for smuggling machine gun conversion kits
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— US Attorney for the [US] Virgin Islands Delia Smith on Thursday, November 9, 2023, announced that 33-year-old Princeton Jameson of St Croix has been sentenced to 38 months in prison. Attorney Smith confirmed that the sentence was handed down by Judge Wilma A. Lewis following Jameson's guilty plea for possession of a machine gun.
The conviction stems from an incident in October 2021, when Customs and Border Patrol officers at the Henry Rohlsen Airport intercepted illegal firearm components in Jameson's luggage.
According to official court documents, the seized items included "Glock Chips" or "Glock Switches," two pistols, various pistol components, and ammunition. These Glock Switches are notorious for their ability to convert Glock pistols from semi-automatic to fully automatic firing modes.
This case was jointly investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection. Assistant United States Attorney Evan Rikhye led the prosecution, resulting in this significant conviction.
