USVI: Man found dead after shooting in Grove Place, St Croix

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- The [US} VI Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau is probing a fatal shooting that occurred in the Grove Place area of Cozy Corner on Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, according to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte.

The incident was reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center at approximately 11:13 a.m., with multiple callers reporting gunfire and shot spotter technology confirming several alerts in the vicinity.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the VIPD and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) discovered an unresponsive male individual, according to Mr. Dratte. Medical personnel confirmed that the man showed no signs of life. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Jamal Rivera.

The VIPD said it has deployed all supporting units and agencies to the location as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging members of the public with any information about the incident to come forward.
