USVI man dies after driving SUV into sea during argument with woman
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — A man was pronounced dead after being removed from the sea at the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands (USVI) Thursday night, March 3, 2022, the [US] Virgin Islands Police Force (VIPD) has confirmed to the Consortium.
The incident occurred just after 9:00 pm during what police say was an argument between the driver and a woman who was in the vehicle with him.
VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte said that the man got enraged and drove the vehicle, a small SUV, into the water, leading to his death. A Good Samaritan in the area managed to save the female victim, and she has since been transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the police department.
Mr Dratte said the identity of the deceased was being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The matter is being investigated by the VIPD's Traffic Division.
