USVI man charged for allegedly shooting his brother to death

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI— A grim familial tragedy unfolded on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Estate Thomas, St Thomas, when a man was arrested for allegedly shooting his brother dead in broad daylight.

According to a [US] VI Police Department's Major Crimes Unit's report, the distressing incident came to light around 12:41 p.m., when a local citizen made a chilling 911 call. The caller reported that they had received information about a shooting at a residence in Estate Thomas. Promptly, VIPD patrol officers and the citizen rushed to the scene.

Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive man sprawled on the ground. The man, later identified as 48-year-old Steave Liverpool, appeared to have been shot multiple times. Emergency Medical Technicians on scene determined that Liverpool had succumbed to his injuries, showing no vital signs.

Bail set @ $1 million.

In a startling revelation, law enforcement officials received information implicating the victim's brother, Richard Liverpool, in the fatal shooting. Acting swiftly, Richard Liverpool, 47, was apprehended at approximately 6:00 p.m. that same day.

Upon arrest, he was charged with first-degree murder, along with additional charges of first-degree assault, and unauthorized use of a firearm during a crime of violence. His bail has been set at $1 million.

Further details surrounding the events leading up to this shocking incident have not been revealed. Investigations by the Major Crimes Unit are ongoing as they delve deeper into this tragic case of fratricide.

      As I can remember and see brothers this close in age are always at war. Why, only God Knows.. I have witness bitter and serious hand and combat between brothers.. most time they are very close in age.. The good part is that after the fight the next day they are walking laughing and talking. In this case. That won't happen. With Guns there is no chance to make up and apologize. We need to keep Guns out of disputes.. we don't need guns period..!. Killing a blood brother.. hmm.

        The brothers were only one year apart in age, 47 and 48. You got it now. The killer looking older might be from a hard street life.

    ... a lot of times people are your blood and then without you noticing they turn against you with hate. What mami or papi left they dont want to share. Could be all kinds of things. Family hate. Best to just walk away. If someone dont like you, keep far if you can, blood or not.
