A man who attempted to sexually assault a woman while she was asleep implored her not to call police after he realised that she knew who he was, according to VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman. Police were alerted by the 911 emergency call center.

According to Ms Freeman, responding officers and detectives met with the victim, who said that she had been asleep in her residence when she was awoken by strange noises. As she arose from her bed in an attempt to ascertain where the sounds were emanating from, she came in contact with a man — who she’s familiar with because he lives within the neighborhood — who had broken into her home.

The suspect then began to fondle the victim and attempted to initiate intercourse, but she told him that she knew who he was and that she was going to phone the police. The suspect fled the residence, begging the victim not to contact the authorities before he left. She ignored his plea.

Officers and detectives made a search of the LBJ Gardens Housing Community and located the suspect in an abandoned apartment. Alejandro Torres III was arrested and charged with first degree burglary after he was positively identified by the victim. Mr Torres was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing after failing to make bail of $75,000.
