ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Bailiff Aliston Wheatley who was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision yesterday morning November 2, 2011, is currently in a serious but stable condition and was flown to Florida last evening for further treatment.

Wheatley had to be cut out of the vehicle he was driving.

Virgin Islands News Online has been informed by a close relative that Wheatley's injuries are severe and family members are praying he will be okay.

According to the eyewitness who made the emergency call, the accident took place around 8:55 a.m. this morning November 2, 2011.

The eyewitness related that the Terios (Wheatley was driving) received a "horrific blow" that sent it into the air and landing on its right side.

A few persons reportedly had to lift the vehicle back on its wheels to help release Wheatley who was apparently partly pinned underneath.

When this news agency arrived on the scene, wreckers were already removing the two vehicles from the scene.

According to another person who was reportedly on the scene, only the two occupants from the Terios were taken to the hospital. Blood stains were visible in one of the vehicles.

The eye witness further said the lone occupant of the second vehicle did not seem to sustain physical injuries.

The eyewitness said the blue vehicle, a Terios PV23291 was coming from the western end of the island while the gold two-door Suzuki PD121 was coming from Road Town area.

Based on the eye witness report, the Terios was apparently trying to turn at the roundabout to go into the Dolphin Discovery compound when it was hit by the Suzuki and apparently hit into the fence of the compound.

Virgin Islands News Online is trying to get information regarding the condition of those taken to the hospital and will keep you informed.

No people just need to realise that its a roundabout not a straight drive through road which everyone treats it as leaving Road Town.
