UPDATE: VI's COVID-19 cases drop to 13 in revised stats

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The current active cases of COVID-19 in the Virgin Islands has dropped to 13, following revised statistics as of December 23, 2020, published by health authorities today, December 24, 2020.

Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) confirmed to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that currently, the cases are 3 on Virgin Gorda and 3 isolated on vessels, with a further 7 active cases on Tortola.

Recoveries have been adjusted to 79 and 93 total cases recorded since the start of the pandemic, with just 1 death.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands has recorded more COVID-19 cases over the past days, taking the total number of active cases in the territory to 14 as of December 22, 2020.

This was revealed via a social media update posted today, December 23, 2020, from the Government Information Service (GIS) which also noted that total recoveries of the virus have increased to 78 from 74 recorded last week on December 18, 2020. 

According to the update, while one case of the virus is currently on a vessel, 5 of the recorded cases are from Virgin Gorda and 8 on Tortola. 

To date, there has been 11,908 samples and 11,894 persons tested at the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital. 

It remains unclear if instances of community spread have been recorded, however, all current cases remain asymptomatic and visitors are in isolation with their close contacts.

      I stayed next to a guy at a hotel who was so called positive and he was so angry that they said he was positive for Covid because he said he felt normal but they was telling him that he was sick lol

        Some people have STD don’t have any symptoms especially males who are asymptomatic and spread it.

        Nothing to laugh about since there are plenty of silent diseases.

          @@Steve, I DO wear my mask all of the time and I DO distance myself regularly, but thus fool is running around I bet infecting the people he is staying with, and then the domino effect happens. That causes a contagion.

    2 of those are FALSE POSITIVE, People were tested again twice after the false but stil government keep those as active cases????

    What happens to the co existing message the Premier spoke about which is real, We have to,. The virus will One Day go away,. But for now we can't shut down, be afraid and live in fear,,,, When We decided to open, new cases was a reality and must have been expected,,,, However, we Drop the ball when we gave up on Physical security and put our trust wrongfully and blindly in this technology which is embarrassing, they are not working beeping all when people trying to sleep, can't get no one on the phone you call health, health says it's tourist board, you call tourist board, they saying it's BVI port authority, u can't get anyone to address the malfunctioning bracelets,,,,, A shameful failure,,,,,

    People just need to stay put evenbif their flight delayed.

    I travelled from JA with intercaribbean airways and not once I took off my mask I even double up on my mask. Intransit Santa Domingo for just 2 minutes and my entrie body was covered from head to toe. I wore a sweat suit with hoodie, socks, and crocos.

    Not once I took off my mask. Please wear face field as well. Mask up through the entire fight. Have your lysol at hand so you can lysol your suitcases and the hotel room as well make sure you lysol.
