So cynical, in the face of someone else’s tragedy.
      A shame.

Someone has lost their life and you make a cruel and very stupid remark.
You are a poor excuse for a human being.

There's a time and a place for every comment. This is not the forum for this comment.

Maybe you should of said. It need signs up to warn people about the danger of devil's bay. It's not call that for a reason.

The seas when ruff can quickly pull you out if you do not know to swim there.

As a youth we always made sure head devil's bay but once we see it's ruff. We all turn back to baths area where it's calm. But if calm there's a special rock out there perfect to dive from.

Now I want to visit again

      Condolences to the family

We were there on that excursion and that is a horribly callous thing to say after finding out that someone has lost their life watching his wife cry over him as people call Nasco Stoneworks on him for over a half hour before anyone from the cruise ship or the excursion even arrived

My wife and I were on the excursion also but obviously left before anything like that happened. We did not want to enter the water secondary to the intensely rough surf! Hate that that happened

Even though the red warning flag was up, there should be a lifeguard stationed at that beach at all tomes

You should be responsible for yourself. Not the government’s business.

He was a tourist off the cruise ship in a strange land. YES, I DO AGREE THAT ALTHOUGH THE RED WARNING FLAG WAS POSTED, THERE SHOULD BE A LIFEGUARD STATIONED AT THAT BEACH AT ALL TIMES. SO YOU ARE ALSO SAYING THE ELDERLY COUPLE THAT WAS STUCK IN THEIR WHEELCHAIRS AND COULD NOT CROSS THE STREET BECAUSE OF NO DIP IN THE SIDEWALK OR CROSSWALK SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THEMSELVES FROM GETTING HIT BY TRAFFIC THAT WAS BUZZING BY AS WELL? YOU WANT THE CRUISE SHIPS TO COME BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO PROVIDE SAFETY FOR THE PASSENGERS WHILE THEY ARE ON YOUR SHORES.

The tourist is strangers in our Country and you have to assure their safety is taken into consideration until they depart our shores. Forbid if one of them should fall on one of these messed up side walks and get seriously injured or hit by a vehicle due to lack of crosswalks, you realize there will be major lawsuits. I also believe there should be a life guard posted on the beaches.

@@Crs So if you are at a red light and you cross, what do you think will happen? Do we need traffic wardens at every traffic light, warning persons of the danger? I believe this is one of the reasons these fundamental safety guidelines are taught from pre-school and onward., for us to learn and be educated about them. It is also left for the cruise ship industry to educate their staff, the staff will edify the passengers about their safety and obeying the laws, rules, and any safety measures that are in the destination.

If it’s red flag/high surf how was the charter allowed to be in the mooring field?

My thing is, the TAXI men should be held Liable as well... How can you dump a whole heap of tourists to a beach that has red flags flying, atleast WARN the passengers of the swells. Also NPT receptionist shouldve warned them as well, also tourist season is in HIGH GEAR, why there isnt a lifeguard on duty ????? This is happening all too often now for us to be so laid back about the whole situation year after year !!!! Everybody dropped the ball here !!! Government continuously chanting that they working for you, but are they really??? if they aint even working for the Tourists safety

The Tour operator should NOT have allowed vistors to visit the Baths when there was a RED FLAG issued! What happened?

First my condolences to the family especially to his wife who was there.

As a continued tourist of the BVIs. This was preventable. The cruise ship should have canceled all snorkeling trips on a red flag day. The boat/tour that moored outside devils bay was moored on a no mooring day. The tour agency didn’t have whistles or experienced life guards, or any emergency equipment. Nor was it the tour agency that noticed what was happening.

Other tourists helped him out of the water and perform CPR. There is no easy way to get emergency professionals to the Baths.

Tour agencies are banking with peoples lives on dollars when they operate in unsafe waters and no lifesaving professionals or equipment!
