The store was robbed at gun point at the close of business on August 17, 2014 making it the second time some employees in the chain of business owned by the Mr Elton S. Leonard, would have experienced such an ordeal.
While several efforts to reach Mr Leonard yesterday failed, some employees spoke off the record with this news site about some of their concerns. “If you were at the opening you would remember him praising us for sticking it out but things are getting though and working in fear is a major concern,” said one.
Another said that though she was not there at the time of any of the incidents, she was ‘jumpy’ all day yesterday. “Every time a male out of shirt and tie who we don't know personally come in the store this heavy fear take you over, every customer you look at with suspicion,” one woman explained.
Being very careful not to leak any information that may compromise the investigation all the workers insisted that more needs to be done to improve security. “There is some amount of security, we can’t tell you certain things but what we know is that things have to beef up especially at certain places,” one explained.
Most of the employees who spoke with this news site said that because of the years they have given so far they are prepared to hang on and not run. “Job ain’t easy to find, we hoping with this we still get our salaries on time but as is, we have to hold on to our little job because we know it’s not easy out there.”

Bobby’s supermarket robbed at gunpoint
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Bobby’s Supermarket in Road Town was robbed in a daring gunpoint stick up last night August 17, 2014.
This incident was confirmed by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and sources close to supermarket.
According to a police press release members of the RVIPF Robbery Team are investigating the robbery.
It said a number of Officers responded just before midnight last night to a telephone report of a robbery in progress. Two masked men were said to have held staff and security officers up at gunpoint and then stole an undisclosed amount of cash. The offenders made off prior to Police arrival. There were no injuries.
The offenders are described as male, short in height, dressed in black, with what appeared to be T shirts over their heads with eyeholes cut out. Our sources indicated that the men believed to have committed the daring robbery were suspected to have done their ground work earlier the same night by posing as customers.
On March 16, 2014, two gun-toting bandits robbed Bobby’s Supermarket in Cane Garden Bay.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is again encouraging members of the public who know of individuals in possession of guns to report this information confidentially to the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339. Persons who provide this information will greatly assist the officers now dedicated to the task of removing these weapons from the Territory.
“Likewise, Police are encouraging persons who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the Road Town, Purcell and Long Trench areas to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit at 494-3822,” the release said.
It said too that persons can also give information anonymously by calling the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline number 800-TIPS (8477) or give information via the police website at www.rvipolice.com under the heading “Help Us Solve a Crime”.

Well sah off of a robery comes adultery, wh.res, husband, wives and everything else out of the book that was not relavant. They even went as far as NDP to blame, and NDP say crime is down, and under the NDP the people them hungry one small nation Tortola is and all this back stabbing and back biting is not call for, people we need to unite and become one. We all need to pray for the slackness that is going on and stop blaming one another.
