UPDATE - Sherwin Fahie gets 25 years for VG Gun Butting

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Sherwin Fahie, who was found guilty of assault, was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison, which is the maximum term of imprisonment for the offense.

At the High Court today July 24, 2012, where Justice Albert Redhead presided, Mr. Fahie apologised to the court and said that in his future he will try to become a role model to young men, and added that he plans to put a positive change towards his name in life.

In rebuttal, Justice Redhead informed the defendant that it is his duty as the Judge, to save the public from Fahie’s actions.

Justice Redhead informed the Court that he also took into consideration that the defendant was previously convicted and served 15 years for murder and was released in 2009, and that the court was lenient with Fahie at the time.

In regards to the facts of the case, Justice Redhead told Mr. Fahie and his lawyer Ms. Mari-lou Creque that it is his belief that Mr. Fahie did travel to Virgin Gorda to commit the act and for that he must be penalised.

Mr. Fahie was found guilty on July, 21, 2012, by a nine-member jury.

It is alleged that Fahie and another assailant went up to the Virtual Complainant in Virgin Gorda on June 26, 2010 and allegedly assaulted him. Court records stated that Rasheda Hodge, Fahie's girlfriend, was allegedly the driver.

However, Ms. Hodge has been found not guilty.

Police investigations indicate that the victim had just arrived at his home that Saturday morning when he was approached by his attacker(s) and after a verbal exchange, he was allegedly struck in the forehead and to the back of his head with a hand gun.

    He already told the people of this community that he wants to be a role model but he also turned around and showed us what kind of role model he wants to be. A criminal role model. Job well done Judge Redhead, but you allowed the jury to take one away from you, but her turn will come because I believe in a higher power who rewards every man according to his work. Her brother too will get his just reward. It is only time that will tell.

    I just dont understand VI. I mean 25 years for hitting someone with a gun? Granted he should get some type of punsihment. However, 25 years is very harsh. I can wait till I am through with Law school and too expose these corrupt individuals in VI. Its all about the money. Like it pisses me off to know that there are alot of Men not women in the system in VI for ignaramous things like obscene language I mean, really? thats what were doing now. Whatever happended to freedom of speech? CORRUPT I TELL YA
