Keep your eyes open and you will see it happen all too frequently. Vehicles of all kinds routinely pull out in front of scooters and cut them off.
We all complain that the kids on scooters have no respect. I think it is also fair to say that many car and truck drivers often demonstrate very little respect for their fellow human beings who just happen to be riding scooters!
the scoter was coming up the high way and the the pick up truck was coming out of one mark ................. that could of been avoided but car drivers dont respect the scooter riders
My prayers for this family i am so shocked.
Where is the edication for these kids, where are the authorities on the law...
I agree with you, George is gone far too soon. Such a waste of a young flower.
I am a 58 year old woman. I ride a scooter because it makes sense to ride a scooter! I use very little gas, I can always find a parking spot and I don’t need to take a big old SUV into Road Town just to do my grocery shopping! Scooters are environmentally friendly and they are economical. I believe more people in the BVI need to show a little responsibility and start riding scooters whenever possible. Our roads do not need to be so congested with everyone riding around in huge cars, trucks and SUVS with ONE person in the car! Show a little common sense and some concern for the environment!
People are always condemning the young people for riding like speed demons. They complain that they dart in and out of traffic and they don’t wear their helmets. I would like to ask, WHERE are the riding schools to educate and teach the young people how to ride safely? There are driving schools for beginners. Where are the riding schools? If you are going to legalize any sort of motor vehicle, then I believe government and society at large has an obligation to EDUCATE young people as to the proper use of that vehicle. They also have an obligation to enforce the laws. ALL the laws!
Are most of you aware that you can't even buy a proper helmet on Tortola?
While riding my scooter into town from West End, I have never once made the trip that I didn’t see someone talking or texting on their cell phones! The very people who condemn the kids break the law ALL the time!
STOP blaming the kids! How do you expect them to behave when you force them to teach themselves to ride, without any adult supervision or input. They are KIDS for crying out loud. They are behaving like kids. When you have kids teaching kids, the result is chaos! How could anyone expect otherwise?
Instead of bashing the kids, why not try to HELP them? Not everyone can afford a car. Many of the kids, can afford a good scooter if they save their money. This allows them the mobility required if we hope for them to find a job and to contribute to society. Just lay off the kids already. They need our help, not our disdain!
My deepest condolences to Brandon George’s family. Such a tragedy. Such a terrible loss.
My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
I will make the offer again and if anyone is seriously interested in getting a scooter safety training school started, I have the books from my MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course that I took in Florida several years ago. Much of the contant is applicable but some will have to be rewritten to suit BVI laws, terrain and the various dangers. I can be contacted at 495-4168.
Those haters on the other sites put yourself in the shoes of this family. VINO big ups again for your normal responsible journalism.
