UPDATE: Police hunt DR prison escapee
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are currently seeking an inmate from Her Majesty’s Prison at Balsam Ghut, Tortola. The inmate, 38 year old Eduord Bueno Beltran, was serving a 1 year sentence imposed in July for an offence of Illegal Entry.
Beltran, a native of the Dominican Republic, was last seen at 8 p.m. last night, and was reported missing just before 8 a.m. this morning. A part of the perimeter fence was found to have been cut, presumably to facilitate the escape.
Detectives have been dispatched to the prison to assist in the search and a watch is being kept at all points of departure. Law Enforcement Agencies - both local and in adjoining Territories - have also been informed, with a description and photograph of the fugitive being made available. Beltran is described as weighing 242 pounds with a height of 5 feet 10 inches and a light complexion.
The release stated that although he is not regarded as a danger to the public, he is unlawfully at large from the prison and should therefore not be approached.
The RVIPF in its release reminded members of the public that harbouring, or giving assistance to a prisoner who is unlawfully at large is a criminal offence that may lead to a prison sentence on conviction.
Persons with any information should contact the RVIPF non-emergency number 311, Crimestoppers, or theSpecialist Investigation Unit on 468 2718.
All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Sometimes when ay yo don't have nothing to say why can't u just shut ur mouths and don't say nothing. Last time I checked the BVI was an island.
The prison haven't get any better, it gotten worst since this man took over at HMP. Food shortage, no schooling or programes, inmates medical obolgations not being met(including dental). Let's not forget the task force with assault riffles on the prison compound. And the over crowding problem. It's that bad inmates are living in the Immigration Center, a building that belongs to the Immgration Department
Inmates constitutional rights are being violated every single day. Both the Governor and Minister knows, they acting as if they don't but they knows. It's plan as day unconvicted and convicted inmates should not live together and adults should not live with juveniles. This is happening at HM Prison and neither the Governor or Ministerial doing nothing. The UK needs to be inform about the inform that the inmates at HM Prison constitutional and human rights are being violated
