DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) is assuring persons concerned about his well-being that there is no need to worry as he will be alright “in no time.”

Following news that the Premier fell ill today, November 1, 2022, resulting in the postponement of the scheduled House of Assembly Sitting, persons began to express concern and make inquiries.

Our newsroom reached out to the Premier this afternoon as a result.

“Thank you for your concern. I also thank the people who have inquired about my condition for their concern. There is nothing to worry about. I just felt slightly under the weather and just needed a day off.

“I will be up and about in no time,” Dr Wheatley stated.

8th Sitting of HoA postponed as Premier falls ill

The 8th Sitting of the 4th Session of the 4th House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands scheduled to start today Tuesday, November 1, 2022, has been postponed.

According to senior sources in the coalition regime, referred to as the Unity Government, one of the reasons for the sudden postponement is that the leader of government business, Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has fallen ill.

The extent of Premier Wheatley's medical condition is unknown to our newsroom at this time.

Order Paper

According to the amended Order Paper of November 1, 2022, Opposition Member Hon Carvin Malone (AL) will ask questions of two front bench Ministers and there are four Bills scheduled to have their second and third readings. 

The Bills are the Liquor Licenses Act 2019; Banks and Trust Companies (Amendment) Act 2022; Financial Services Commission (Amendment) Act 2022 and the  Insolvency (Amendment) Act 2022.

A new date for the 8th Sitting has not yet been announced.

    Get well soon Premier, hope it is not serious. You have the weight of the political present and political future of these VI on your very young shoulders. In addition to that you have even the heavier weight of the pressure of the uk on you. You did not ask for this and maybe not even prepared for all this.     In spiite of my differentces off opinion with Hon. Natalio Sajande Wheatley on some of the political position that he took, I am sad to hear, if true that he has fallen ill My hope is that his illness, if true, is not serious.
    The true Christian should pray for his speedy recovery. I hope that no one should which evil on our Premier now or any time in the future, but rather pray, if know how to for his speedy recovery. Any us us that are not sick now can become sick in the future.
    Love for others does not desire, speak of, and do evil to others, even if disagreement between them and us is factual on some issues, Spiritually, socially, economically, politically, and physically etc.
    If medical science is helpful to his swift recovery I hope that the heip that he needs he will get as soon as possible.

    Is it a co-incidence that the Premier tells us that there will be no time to call a by-election to de-seat Head Coach because of the need to hold the four and final sitting of HOA, and then suddenly falls ill. Now just a day or so later the Premier makes certain there definitely won't be sufficient time be falling "ill" thus delaying the sitting further. Maybe I am just paranoid but there is a distinct reluctance to move on the HOA business with speed to remove Mr Fahie.
