UPDATE: Mika et ses soldats has died
Mika was a child afflicted by cancer and was given a short time to live by his doctors. He was brought to this territory by his parents who were looking for a special gift for him when they encountered genuine Virgin Islands hospitality, compassion and love. Ever since, hundreds of persons living here kept in touch with the family on a daily basis. They were saddened when Mika died on Thursday October 7, 2016.
His mother wrote on his Facebook page, “Mika found his star at 00:25 last night, all gently as we wished... this was a start in the serenity.” At that time of posting his mother requested that persons not respond as she was in deep sorrow and morning and could not bear to read condolences and other messages anticipated to follow.
She, however, in a subsequent post stated “he had been great until the very End... he gave me his love until the very end...”

Touching encounter with child dying of cancer shared on FB
Facebook was a sea of emotions recently when the touching story of a young woman’s encounter with a little boy dying of cancer was shared.
It was September 7, 2016, a day that was going as per normal, with cruise ship tourists flooding the Diamond International store on Tortola Pier Park. However, ‘normal’ quickly changed to ‘emotional’ when a mother and her son, Mica et ses soldats, approached sales clerk Ms Sherica A. Thomas about wanting to buy a pendant of a pair of wings or one with the letter ‘M’ inscribed.
Sherica was then told by the child’s mother why she wanted the items – her boy was dying of cancer and doctors have the clock ticking on him, giving him no more than two months more to live.
For those who know Sherica would not have been surprised at her reaction. It became a moment of hugs and tears as the boy’s mother already had tears flowing down her cheeks.
Little did Sherica know this month is being observed as ‘Childhood Cancer Awareness Month”.
After the encounter, Sherica moved to share her experience via social media on her Facebook page.
“Today at work I got to be so close to a cancer patient by the name of Mica. This little 4yr old boy touched my heart this morning; he is given two months to live. His mom next to him told me that she's looking for a pendant of a pair of wings or the letter M for Mica because this little boy is going to die. I rebuke his sickness in Jesus name. She also told me that she is preparing for her son's death in the next two months. How can a mother prepare for her son's death? We both cried today to know that he is not going to live no longer that two months. But God is still alive and I rebuke that in Jesus name. Please send prayers up for little Mika and his family. Awesome Mica. Touched my heart today.”
Scripted in another of her post was: “The questions that ran through my mind as my coworker and her broke down in tears. How can a mother prepare herself for something like this? How can this mother explain this to her son?”
While those are answers Sherica and many others may never get or could ever conceive, the social media post was met with an overwhelming response of love and compassion from hundreds of residents of the Virgin Islands, many sending prayers, attempting to answer Sherica’s questions and most expressing hope that Mica returns to life as a normal child and living to adulthood healthy.
Keep hope alive- Gloria A. Fahie
Several other residents also reached out to the family, including cancer survivor and President of the BVI Cancer Society Ms Gloria A. Fahie.
Ms Fahie directed her post to Mica’s mother, saying: “Good morning. I saw that you all visited the British Virgin Islands yesterday. I hope that you all enjoyed our country especially Mica. I am the president of the British Virgin Islands Cancer Society and would have loved to meet with you all. I know that you are going through much pain and suffering about Mica’s prognosis but God has the last say. What you are doing for Mica is what he needs and create as much happy memories as much as possible. I am praying for your family and as a Breast Cancer survivor I know that it can be rough. Keep HOPE alive and continue to cover Mica with your love.”
Ms Fahie, told this news site said that when she read Mica’s story her heart was touched, especially since the Virgin Islands recently lost a child to cancer. The child was only 20 months old. “So reading it brought back a lot of memories for me,” she added.
Ms Fahie also said she is happy that Sherica chose to share her encounter with the child and his mother, which gives the world yet another opportunity to see the true love of the people living in this part of the world.

Governor needs to sort this out pronto.
Obviously you are not a parent or you just don't have a heart. Send up a prayer for little Mica. Rebuke his sickness in Jesus name, pray for his mother's strength and let her know she cannot give up on her child. The bible says "if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." Let us send up prayers for this young life who has not even lived life yet. Let us rebuke the sickness and claim his healing in Jesus name for he by His stripes little Mica is healed in Jesus name.
I just can't get and don't get some of you bloggers..
Hi Wendy and all who shares a similar concern. Please click on the link and watch the content. Maybe you can find an answer to your question. Does God care ?yes he does. Amidst pain, suffering and death on this earth ,the battle between good and evil will continue until Jesus puts an end to sin ,pain, death and suffering. Because there is pain and suffering we still ought to still trust God. Death pain and suffering is part and parcel of a sinful world; however in the suffering ,we can look to Jesus and trust him because he will deal with the one (Satan)who causes all the pain and suffering one day.Just are there is wind and you can't see it there is a God who exists but you can't see him physically I want to let you know that he sees and knows everything and one day will bring and end to pain suffering and death. Nature tells us there is a God.
We can cure ourselves of this cancer by cutting them off completly or we too shall surely die from this horrible disease.
