UPDATE: Man arrested for allegedly shooting female @ UP's Cineplex
The female sustained injuries and was transported to Dr. Orlando Smith's Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Police confirmed the incident and, in a press release this morning, July 7, 2024, said the individual who is believed to have done the shooting has been arrested.
"He remains in custody as the investigation continues," the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated.
The RVIPF urges the public to come forward with any information pertaining to the incident. Individuals are encouraged to reach out confidentially via the Crime Stoppers line at 800-8477 (TIPS) or, if overseas, at 1-284-800-8477.
Alternatively, you can contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 1-284-368-9339.
"Regardless of how seemingly insignificant, every piece of information could be pivotal in advancing the ongoing investigation," the RVIPF stated.

Female hospitalised after shooting @ UPS Cineplex
Police in the Virgin Islands (VI) have confirmed a shooting incident at the UPS Cineplex tonight Saturday, July 6, 2024, sometime after 10:00 pm.
Police sources said the shooting left one female injured and that she was transferred to Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment.
It remains unclear the circumstances surrounding the incident, however, the injured individual is said to be in stable condition at the hospital.
Sources have told our news centre that the shooting victim is a young police officer who was reportedly shot by an individual known to her.

Legalize weed, decriminalize the local population and allow the officers to move in uniform in all circles. Every bar has a license and police freely go to and from, enjoying a drink themself here and there. a lot of drinks by their belly.
We continue to criminalize non-violent citizens for their medicine, showing the youth the law is outdated, unjust, unfounded in reality, and nonsensical. It is a wonder a young officer can be hired at all because they know many people are puff puff passing so what is the point of entering service under that condition, a hot bed for corrupt officers as the law is not in accordance with the caribbean society. This isnt the middle east. You'd have to be a money hungry person to turn on friends and family upholding an unjust law, or a officer who looks the other way.
Our system is broken by design and both UK & the politicians pretend they can not fathom those issues.
Some see nothing wrong with causing a culture of crime today and crying for some outside savior help down the road to clean up our mess.
