UPDATE: Malik allegedly lost control of motor cycle
The conclusion was drawn as no helmet was found by members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Officers (RVIPF) at the gruesome scene of the accident last night, January 19, 2014, which occurred sometime after 11 p.m. and the lifeless body of 21-year-old Malik J. Aaron laid on the road with visible serious head injuries.
Eyewitnesses, who were mainly other scooter riders, were overheard saying that Aaron was allegedly riding at a very fast pace and lost control of the bike which resulted in the accident.
It was after a long period of inquiry and searching that the motor cycle was found at the side of a taxi stand at the airport.
When this news site arrived on the scene, the parents of the young man were present and were being consoled by loved ones.
Police Officers had cordoned off the area debarring traffic from traversing that section of the road. Persons en-route to Trellis Bay would have had to drive through the Terrance B. Lettsome International airport. The road was cleared and reopened at approximately 02:30 a.m. this morning January 20, 2014, as the body was removed at 02:15 a.m.
The atmosphere, thou already solemn, was saddened even further as the night grew older and reality started to hit home that Aaron was indeed dead. The cries of a bereaved mother rang out with pains through the silence of the night, “Oh lord have mercy, let me see me son,” as the father Enos Aaron and others tried to console her.
In a bid to grant her wish, the bereaved woman was driven closer to the scene where the body laid covered under a sheet and surrounded by several police officers. As she got closer reality became even clearer, her painful cries grew even louder, “Oh Lord, oh father, aww aww oh Lord,” was all the mother could be heard saying while the father seem to have been the stronger one to support her.
As the night grew older and officers wrapped up their investigations, the body was uncovered for the parents to view. Other close family members also rushed beyond the cordon and were allowed to view the body. The body was bagged and taken away at 02:15 a.m.

THE PLACE LAWLESS!! WISE UP PEOPLE!!
and on the way to the burial.. no helmet was needed cause we were back of the hoarse going 2mph!!. plus the sun was hot!!! so get your facts right!
Secondly, I also saw either this young man or his brother "popping wheelies" between Umi's and Digicel on Saturday without a helmet, turning around and driving between cars. Thus we as a people need to decide how this will be addressed. If it is a law that helmets are required, why is this not enforced? If reckless riding is illegal or frowned about, why are these scooter riders allowed to get away with it.
Ultimately, when there is a serious accident or death, we all pay for it, in some form. We need to decide.
A message to the young people out there that ride scooters irresponsibly! Learn to have a more safety oriented outlook on scooter riding. Wear a helmet although it may not seem 'cool' to you. It makes no sense enjoying the freedom of a scooter if you don;t respect its limitations. How many more of our young people must end up like this before you WAKE UP!
WE ARE NOT INVINCIBLE PEOPLE!!
My condolences to the family. Use this as to be the leader to encourage others to wear helmets.
I am not saying to chase them, which they should not do. Tortola is small, they know whom all rides what, they are not stupid!
RIP and condolence to the parents. Another one. The bible said "Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it". (Something like that). Come on parents. Do not allow another one to go senselessly. Since the government doing anything you have to powers in your had to stop another young person from dying. Parents take your children back into your hands. They might not like you but when they grow old and more responsible they can say I APPRECIATE what my mom or dad did for me to make me a productive citizen.
rest on malik.. wasnt a good way to die but god knows best.. !!!!!!! condolencees to the family!!!!!!!!!!
condolences to the family
Unfortunately the sad reality is you arent the first and will not be the last......Wake up young people. lefe is but a dream with no do overs and no reset button
All we are saying they are not hearing it a spirit we need to pay Tortola we need to pray.
well mey bouy vino you all good you all even have the man middle name....but on a serious note this is very very sad. I will remember his mom and dad and the brothers in my prayer
A few weeks ago a father came out and said his son died from head injuries while on a scooter, and pleaded with riders to wear helmets. I just don't understand how something that could save ur life, consistently falls on deaf ears? Police shouldn't have to "ticket" someone for failure to wear protective gears; your own value for your life should prevail, no? Now a mother mourns simply because her son thought he was invincible. #thiscantbelife
