UPDATE: ‘I was the one hit’- Bus driver in Pasea accident
The rider of the motorcycle was rushed to Peebles Hospital notably with head injuries following the accident at Pasea, in the vicinity of Delta Gas Station. According to reports, the accident took place around 8:15 P.M. on the turn that joins the eastern bound carriageway and western bound carriageway on the James Walter Francis Highway.
The upset driver told Virgin Islands News Online today, March 14, 2013 that he never ran over the motorcycle or the rider but that the motorcyclist came from behind him and slammed into the right side of his van.
“He hit the van when I was taking a right turn from the left lane to the right turn to go over and he hit me exactly where the entrance is for the next highway. When he realised that I was making a turn he tried to turn to avoid the accident but he collided with the side of my van,” the driver told Virgin Islands News Online.
A man who claimed he was in the area at the time of the accident, told Virgin Islands News Online that he heard a loud noise and when he looked in the direction of the noise he noticed a white mini-bus "bumping over" something. "I don't think the bus ran over his (motorcyclist) head but am pretty sure it went over some part of his body."
"I don't understand how you could say I ran over anybody, if I had done that he would not have been in hospital. He hit me," the driver emphasied. He claimed that the motorcyclist has since told him that he didn’t see him.
He noted also that he had a sleepless night following the accident out of concern for the rider. “God knows I was up all night saying I hope this guy ok because the guy was unconscious”
It is not clear if any charges have been laid against anyone involved in the accident.

Motorcyclist hospitalised after hit by bus at Pasea
PASEA, Tortola, VI - A rider of a motorcycle was rushed to Peebles Hospital notably with head injuries after becoming involved in an accident with a mini-bus at Pasea, in the vicinity of Delta Gas Station on March 12, 2013.
According to reports, the accident took place around 8:15 P.M. on the turn that joins the eastern bound carriageway and western bound carriageway on the James Walter Francis Highway at Pasea.
The man further said that himself and others ran to the assistance of the man and also quickly called an ambulance, which came some 25 minutes later. "I tried talking to him to keep him conscious. But you drive a car, right? Had this been a dual automobile accident you wouldn't be calling for a ban on all cars, would you? You don't ride bikes and I'm sure your car (Provided you use one, I hate to assume) can withstand coming in contact with any bike. You safe. Now stop being biased and offer constructive posts rather than hurried orders based off your opinion.
What needs to happen is 1) stepped up police activity, 2) stiffer penalties for traffic offences involving bikes, 3) enforce driving test and ensure all riders have a motorcyle license.
Stupid ... is the car them what's causing the accidents ..... get it it straight and the others who saying that need to be worrying on being careful while them driving from running over the bikers not making laws dumb @$$
These people CANNOT be serious. In life or death situations the response time for the ambulance needs to be way shorter than that! We have GOT to do better people!!!!
I hope the cyclist will be okay.
No lights, no licence plate, i presume no licence, no crash helmet - . too many idiots think they can do what they want on the roads. Licence and insure your bikes, make sure they are legal when they are on the road.
