Hon Carvin Malone to return to Unity Government
- reportedly expected to challenge Premier Wheatley for Chairman of VIP
Word reaching our news centre from sources within the coalition government is that Opposition legislator Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) is to cross the floor today and return to the Unity Government headed by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).
This is expected to happen this morning, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the Continuation of the Second Sitting of the Fifth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.
It was on June 15, 2022, that Hon Malone, a backbencher in the Unity Government, crossed the floor to increase the Opposition to two.
As Opposition Member he was famous for peppering the Unity Government with questions.
Hon Malone is popular!
Hon Malone, through his One Virgin Islands Agenda programme, has been a popular figure over the last six months in educating the public about the Commission of Inquiry, the constitutional review process and other topical matters involving the VI’s relationship with the United Kingdom (UK).
It is also our understanding that Hon Malone, a former Minister for Health and Social Development, is to challenge Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) for the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairmanship post in a Congress meeting scheduled for this Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Efforts to draw a comment from Hon Malone proved futile up to the time of publication.
We will have more information as the story develops.

Imagine, the House of Assembly, which is suppose to be the most respected body/highest form of government in this country is meeting on a basketball court for over 2 years now. Anything goes in this place messon. These people have no pride or standards. Less as sh**.
This latter move is clear evidence of the danger, politically speaking, that if we intent to move forward to experience better governance for the betterment of the people of the British Virgin Islands, we must not, coming next general election elect people of selfish mindset.
It should be clear to us by now that the the above mentioned group does have our Country's best interest at heart, only their own
Each one of us not dumb or stupid it is all of us who have the stroke of the pen or pencil coming in a few weeks. all the school they all went to let's see who will be the val and sal. We will determine all the graduates. Sorry to say but how it looks from the inside the classroom we have some failures and it's hard to catch up because the final exams only carry 30% of grades. Presently we have many e and f not even a d. Their report cards are very poor. 30 % cant even give them a c-.
Some will stay back in the same class until they learn to apply wisdom, understanding and fairness. For the next four years they will sit behind classroom and do some introspection.
